Sweet Baby Caleb

Friends and family,

Here is the story of sweet Baby Caleb.  Please continue to pray that he will be healed and pass this on to anyone and everyone that you can.  Our God is bigger than any sickness or disease!

Every Tree

Just an update on our sweet son Caleb. He had his blood taken for his Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) test this week.  We were originally told it will take one week to get the results but found out earlier this week it will be 6 weeks!  He was very brave and made his parents and grandma proud!

Thank you for your prayers.  Our family has been deeply encouraged by all of the prayer support and love coming our way. Please keep praying not only that he doesn't have SMA but that God would strengthen and heal him.  We also pray that God will give his pediatrician, pediatric neurologist, physical therapists, occupational therapist, and nurses wisdom in caring for our son.  Also pray that God would give his Mom and Dad strength and courage.

I love to smile!

Enjoying breakfast!
We believe in our son. We believe we serve an amazing God. The verse below really stuck out to us because a myrtle tree grows slowly but when it matures it is great in size and nothing like the shrub it was when it started. We are praying for healing and growth. Will you please continue to pray? Would you pass our blog along and ask for prayer? We are coming to the Father asking for healing and that Caleb would start to use every muscle. We are praying for BIG things to a BIG God! We need you all so much and please know how much we appreciate you! Caleb's Aunt Jen made this graphic below...please share this graphic as you share our story. We love you!

Cypress trees will grow where now there are briers;
myrtle trees will come up in place of thorns.
This will be a sign that will last forever,
a reminder of what I, the Lord, have done.

Life as We Know It!

So my mother-in-law keeps reminding me that I haven't blogged since July!!! :)  I have no excuse really.  I mean I guess I could blame it on taking care of my 24 students at school and growing a baby! :)  Yes, you read that right!  Kevin and I will be welcoming a little one in February!  We just found out a few weeks ago that it is a boy!  We couldn't be more excited!!  I wish I had a picture of my husband's smile as soon as the ultrasound tech said, "It's a boy!"  He was just grinning from ear to ear!  I am looking forward to all the sporting events, playing in the dirt, building with blocks and immediately turning around and knocking it to the ground, pretending to shoot the "bad guys," and all the noise!  Of course, he will be a mama's boy! :)

Here is my cute little guy!
So for now we are playing the name game, and deciding what baby gadgets we think we need to add to our lives.  There is so much out there to choose from!! And since I am so bad about blogging....who knows the next time you might see our little guy in our arms!

All Good Things Must Come to an End

Well I have a week and a half left of summer to enjoy. It is such a bittersweet feeling.  In a week and a half I will start my new job...getting my classroom ready and attending meetings.  I am very excited to get things set up and to meet my kiddos!  I will miss being lazy and working on my tan.  I must soak up these last few lazy days because it will be a LONG while before I experience this again.

Kevin starts his last year of physical therapy school in a week and a half as well.  I am so excited and so proud of him.  Neither one of us will know what to do when he is finished.  We have been so use to being college students for 7 years now. It will be nice to enter the "real world." :)  We have lots of dreams and plans that we hope to accomplish in the months and years to follow. Until then, we will enjoy what we have been given... a few more lazy days, a new job, and the end of an era. :)

Summer Update

My summer has been pretty lazy this year and that is just the way I like it.  I have been babysitting two twelve year old girls or being their nanny as the girls like to call it.  We spend lots of time painting nails and going to the pool.

Kevin's sister got married a few weeks ago. That was a very fun weekend as she and her husband started their new life together.  I had a lot of fun helping her prepare for her wedding and felt very blessed to be a part of it.

I also got great news that I will be teaching 1st grade at Bolivar Primary School this year.  I will be teaching with my best friend, Nicki, and she will also be my mentor.  I am very excited about it but also not looking forward to my summer ending so soon.

Stay tuned for more summer fun!

Beautiful Things

Today the sermon was about how God uses the unusable for His glory!  I found this to be very humbling because in the midst of all my failures and flaws, God can still use me.  Matt also talked about God didn't save me because I was the best.  I didn't do ANYTHING to earn God's gift of salvation.  Matt told us that God chose us to prove that brilliance, power and money are worthless.  All the things of this world that make you think others are better than you are irrelevant when God shows up.  WOW!!   At the end of the sermon, Matt played this song and I just love it!  It shows me again  how powerful and amazing our God is!!  God makes beautiful things out of us!! So so so thankful for HIM!!!

I have been receiving these daily devotions through email that are written as if God is speaking himself.  I just want to share with you some of my favorites:

"As you sit quietly in My Presence, remember that I am a God of abundance.  I will never run out of resources;  My capacity to bless you is unlimited.  You live in a world of supply and demand where necessary things are often scarce.  Even if you personally have enough, you see poverty in the world around you.  It is impossible for you to comprehend the lavishness of My provisions:  the fullness of My glorious riches."

"Rejoice in what I am doing in your life even thought it is beyond your understanding.  The ultimate challenge is to keep your eyes fixed one Me, no matter what is going on around you.  When I am central in your thinking, you are able to view things from My perspective."

"Seek my face at the beginning of your day.  This practice enables you to "put Me on" and "wear Me" throughout the day.  Most people put on clothes soon after arising from bed.  Similarly, the sooner you "put Me on" by communicating with Me, the better prepared you are for whatever comes your way."

And this is my favorite one so far:

"Welcome challenging times as opportunities to trust Me.  You have Me beside you and My Spirit within you, so no set of circumstances is too much for you to handle.  When the path before you is dotted with difficulties, beware of measuring your strength against those challenges.  That calculation is certain to riddle you with anxiety.  Without Me, you wouldn't make it past the first hurdle!"

I hope these are a blessing to you friends!

Things that Make Me Smile: Summer

Summer is now here!!!  Well it has actually been here for about a week for me but today is the first day that it actually feels like summer! I absolutely love summer.  These are among the many reasons why I LOVE summer:

Break from school
It gets dark late
Getting a sun-kissed tan by the pool or on the beach
Ice cream
Family bar-b-ques
Our anniversary
Vacation and family memories
Oh and did I mention ice cream :)

These are just some of the many reasons why I love summer.

What are some of you favorite things about summer?
